A vasúti építészet különbözik attól, amit Erdélyben láttunk. Bukarest után Ploieşti Románia második legfontosabb vasúti csomópontja, Bukarest felől itt ágazik el a vasút Erdély (Brassó, Kolozsvár) és Moldva (Buzâu, Iaşi) felé, ezen kívül négy helyi jelentőségű vonal is csatlakozik (Slânic, Târgovişte, Mâneciu és Urziceni felé). A Déli a legforgalmasabb, de az összes égtájnak van itt állomása, a város déli szélén túl pedig külön rendező pályaudvar működik.

The architecture of the railway station here was different to the others in Transylvania. After Bucureşti, Ploieşti is the second biggest railway junction in Romania. The main lines from Bucureşti to Transylvania (Braşov, Cluj) and to Eastern Romania (Buzâu, Iaşi) are divided here. Besides the main lines, there are four local lines connecting, to Slânic, Târgovişte, Mâneciu and Urziceni. The biggest station is Sud but the other three quarters, West, East and North has stations as well. Freight trains use the huge shunting yard beyond the southern limits of the city.
